What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure for your skin. Your aesthetic provider uses a sterile surgical blade to shave away the uppermost layers of dead skin, as well as vellus hairs (peach fuzz). This procedure is most commonly performed on the face, but you can do it anywhere on your body.
What are the benefits of Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning can help minimize the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles and dull skin. The procedure reveals smoother, brighter and healthier skin. After the procedure, the freshly exfoliated skin can better absorb topical skincare treatments, serums, and moisturizers. This increased absorption can maximize the effectiveness of these products, allowing them to penetrate more deeply into the skin and provide optimal results. Dermaplaning temporary removes hair, which results in a polished canvas for make-up as products can glide on more evenly without getting caught on the fine facial hairs.
How many treatments are needed?
It’s recommended every 3-4 weeks, or as needed.
When will I see results from a Dermplaning?
Results can be seen immediately, and can last 2-4 weeks.
Is this safe for my skin type?
Dermaplaning is safe and beneficial for people of all ages and skin types, but it is not ideal for anyone with active acne, rosacea or highly sensitive skin.
What are possible risks or side effects?
Minor cuts or knicks, skin irritation, dryness, breakouts.
What do I do after the treatment?
There is no downtime with this procedure, but we do encourage sun protection post-procedure as the skin is more sensitive. Additionally, hydrating and soothing skincare products can help with recovery.
